I just Installed Windows XP Home on my new 300 gb Hard drive (previouolsy using XP Pro on a seperate hard drive on which the internet HAD worked fine) and after installing a driver provided by the motherboard company called "VIA PCI 10.1000Mb Lan Driver" I can no longer connect to the internet due to "Limited or No Connectivity".
I have tried several suggestions that worked for others on the forums with this problem
- netsh winsock reset catalog
- netsh int ip reset reset.log
- Replaced the Network Cable
I am on a desktop PC that is connected via a Netgear Router (WGT624 v2), and my laptop works perfectly. And now when i try to use my old hard drive to access the internet it connects but it does not recieve any packets.

What firewall are you using? Is XP fully updated to SP2, and do you use Microsoft Update often?

open a browser type in the routers ip
can you get to it?
your ipconfig show's no gateway ip(router ip)
have you tried to set nic manually??
dhcp is off??
