No sound after reinstalling windows xp

after reinstalling windows xp i no longer have any sound on my computer, through audio controls it says there are no "devices" present, also when trying to add hardware it says these programs are not installed and are missing:

Video Controller (VGA Cmpatible)
PCI Simple Communications Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
UNKNOWN

Please help!!!

do you know what system board you have if so got to manufactors website and download corect drivers for your board
