NONE of my .exe files will open!!! (itunes.exe, AIM.exe, etc..) HELP!

I have no idea what's going on. I just followed some instructions that the microsoft.com website had said to do. They had me do the following:

Create a .reg file that is named Repair.reg to repair the registry.
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "DisableRegistryTools"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSE S\exefile\shell\open\command] @="\"%1\" %*"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSE S\batfile\shell\open\command] @="\"%1\" %*"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSE S\comfile\shell\open\command] @="\"%1\" %*"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSE S\piffile\shell\open\command] @="\"%1\" %*"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSE S\scrfile\shell\open\command] @="\"%1\" %*"

basically I added this file to the registry and thought it would help with the problem, but it didn't. I performed a virus scan of my whole machine and did the above mentioned procedure all in safe mode, but it still hasn't fixed the problem. By the way, i'm running Win2k Pro.

You backed up your registry right? whenever u do changes to it u really need to do that... the only thing i can think of is try to repair it with ur cd

Don't exaggerate. (NONE of my .exe files will open).
If that were the case, you could not even start your PC!
Please give us the EXACT error message(s) you get.
