Norton 2005, Outlook Express, etc.

My new 'windows xp home' PC is protected by Norton 2005. Having accepted a Norton update recently (a) I can no longer access Outlook Express, and (b) at the end of a PC session my PC takes for ever to shut down:

(a) When I try to connect to OE, I simply get a "connecting . . . " message, followed by "A time-out occurred ................Secure (SSL): No, Error Number 0x800ccc19";
(b) When I click my PC's turn-off button at the end of a session, a message (with icon) briefly appears: "ending program 'ccApp'", followed by a long wait before my PC finally turns off.

How can I resolve the above problems? Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Regards,
Barry Davies

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

The best thing you can do is to get rid of that crap Symantec/Norton.

If you care to search these forums. You will see no end of problems caused by Symantec/Norton security products.

Uninstall it completely, and go and install AVG free, and the free Zonealarm firewall.

Once you have done this. You should see a performance boost to your system.
