Can I partition a set of disks using this into additional logical volumes under Windows XP? I am finding information that says you can't parttion a RAID array.

You can partition RAID arrays just fine. They would be useless if you couldn't :D

The problem is with drivers though. If you are going to use the DOS version of PM, then you need DOS drivers for your RAID array. If you have a crappy SATA fakeraid, then there are no such drivers and you can only partition from within Windows.

I want to partition through Windows and Dell said it can;t be done. It arrived with a 250gb drive already parititoned into a Dell Utility parittion (FAT), an unallocated one 31 mb, C drive, 59MB extended, D: Back up, CP/M Concurrent DOS, CTOS. I have no idea why this is this way. I just want three more logical drives to be added.

You can use Partition Magic (or some other Windows partition utility) no problem. Maybe the Dell person meant software RAID?
