i am having a strange problem with my cd/dvd rom, it's an IBM RW/DVD GCC,
the problem is that the first time i use it when i turn on the PC it works, but when i close the movie,game,etc... and try to use it again, the cd-rom is not detected by the computer, it doesn't appears in My Computer. the only way of using it again is to turn off the computer and turn it on again
and the problem will happen again and again

is it a problem of windows or is it something else?

Have you checked the drivers? Make sure they are right. Sounds obvious but worth a check. There not conflicting with any other device or old drivers are they? Drive could be faulty, could you try it in another pc?
