Hi,

Just noticed that I was infected with some type of "Internet Connection Speed Monitor" program that I didn't download. I ran SS&D and it found some nasties including virtumonde and others. I updated the definitions and also have mcafee antivirus and updated. Attached is the hijackthis file.

Not sure if I want to go through the entire instructions of cleaning if it's not necessary. Please advise.

Thanks.

Simon

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

I did not find any infections but I found 2 suspicous files, but since you're running a old version of windows I don't know if they are apart of the OS or if it's bad :suspiciou

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

This thread is for the use of siedog only. Please don`t post your own virus/spyware problems in this thread. Instead, open a new thread in our security and the web forum.

Ok, it took me awhile to go through that list. I still didn't run my antivirus program yet but did update the definition files. I didn't run adaware yet either. I got an error accessing the registry files when running the smitfraud tool. Nothing was found in the avg-rootkit. Attached are the HJT, avg-antispyware and combofix files.

Thanks.
