If you're interested in jumping into the world of virtual reality but you don't own a headset or a powerful enough gaming PC, the latest game bundle from Nvidia and Valve may be what you're after.

This latest bundle offers three VR games for free when you purchase an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080, GTX 1070 or GTX 1060 alongside a HTC Vive headset. These bundles vary in price from just under $1,000 for a GTX 1060 bundle, to $1,600 for a GTX 1080 bundle. You'll find these bundles for sale at both Newegg and the Microsoft Store.

The games included with the bundle are as follows:

  • Raw Data – a well-received sci-fi shooter that's been built specifically for virtual reality. Supports both single and co-op play.
  • Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope – a game that involves murdering everything with a lot of guns, now in VR for the first time
  • Sports Bar VR – play pool, darts, chess, and more in a virtual reality bar environment.

Buying these games separately would cost $100, so it's a handy inclusion in a thousand dollar hardware bundle. It also gives you an immediate entry into virtual reality gaming when your hardware arrives, without having to fork over more cash for VR games.

The bundle will be available from now through to January 31, 2017 at participating retailers around the globe.

Sports Bar VR? Seriously? I can walk around the corner and do that at a real sports bar. And I won't even have to wear something on my head.

If this is the best they can come up with, VR is in a lot of trouble.

There is one difference, the dudes at the bar wont beat you up and/or give you a wedgie in the VR version

Then what's the point? Getting into a brawl at a real bar is much more exciting, not to mention so much cheaper.

I'm going to keep saying it... the VR headsets are just too expensive for what you get. Sorry, low resolution pixels in my face for more money than a 4K monitor. No thanks.

Sure VR is cool, but if people don't have the money they just won't do it. It just isn't worth it yet... Now if these headsets had equivalent of 4K, then I'd pay $800 for it.
