  1. Just like the AMD versus Pentium, It is always a mud slinging battle when you try to decide which of these two video card chips are better.

I know each card has their positives and negatives. I researched a bit but ultimately .. even the supposed statistics seem biased at times. You search ati sites and their charts show better performance on the ati cards. You search the nvidia sites, low and behold, the nvidia cards are better.

I guess it all depends on exactly what you want out of your video card. I figured the best way to gauge is to get feedback from people who have actually seen the performance of each, so my question is :

For best performance using 3d apps like maya and max, rendering etc. (considering there is no budget so it would be between the best of both) which is the way to go? nvidia or ati?

For such applications it's a decision between ATI FireGL, nVidia Quadro & 3Dlabs.

    Thanks alot Didou

Thats exactly the kind of information I was interested in finding out.

Unfortunately, when I said no budget.. that was because I didn't know cards got THAT expensive. jebus.. $1,175 is a bit out of my league.. the fx1000 looks more reasonable.

    Thanks for the quick response.
