Odd video problem selecting videos in windows explorer

I'm having an odd problem with my computer. When I attempt to right-click on any movie file(.avi, .mov, .wmv, etc) The screen goes black for 1/2 second or so , then redraws the screen before the menu comes up.
I'm running an Athlon 64X2 4200+ with 1gb ram and a Geforce 6600 Gt, . I've had the same setup for awhile, but this problem is recent. I've tried upgrading the drivers, but doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions?
Also, possibly related, WMV files already on my computer only play for about 2 seconds before the video stops. Pausing and playing again don't help.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you plug in the auxiliary power to Geforce 6600GT ?

Have you updated the DirectX ?

Have you tried to re-seat the Geforce 6600GT?

Temporarily solved

Thanks for the suggestions. I had already updated drivers, and the card does not use an auxilary power source. However, I took the card out and reseated. I don't know if it was the reseating or the rebooting but the problem was not present.
