I've just recieved the following from a btinternet email address.

Mr Steve Walters,
22 Preston Avenue,
Liverpool UK.

Dear Sir,

URGENT BUSSINESS ASSISTANCE

My name is Mr Steve Walters. And I work with Resource Finance Bank here in United Kingdom. (UK) We had a customer ( Mr Patrick Bevan) . He had a deposit of 1.5M (One Million Five Hundred Thousand Pounds) before he died in a plane crash with his wife and only Child about 5years now (January30, 2000) and since he died, we in the Bank here have been expecting his next of kin/relative(s) for the inheritance of the deposit, but none has surfaced. The policy of the Bank however stipulate limited time period for such inheritance to be made or the fund will be written off going by the record of the incident, the time limit for the claim is closing up.

In this consideration, I am contacting you to seek for your kind understanding and sincere co-operation to claim this inheritance for our mutual benefit . If you can stand as the next of kin in this project, success is assured because I am in possession of the personal file jacket of the deceased which contains every needed information about the account and the deceased and you and I stand no risk of any kind because I have enough information to support you in claiming the inheritance.

The proceedings of the transaction will be shared 50% each after expenses are reimbursed. Kindly indicate your willingness and we shall proceed with the initial step for the claim.
The entire project is expected to last for about ten working days. Please include your full names and address and also mobile/fax number for effective communications.

Best Regards.

Mr. Steve Walters.

Note: On the recipt of your reply and consent to proceed, I shall proceed to fill your names into the banks data base as the sole beneficiary to this fund .I will also furnish you with the original deposit documents for your Verifications and Documentation

surely doing this from the UK, as a UK citizen/subject is a risky business?

Forward the email to your local law enforcement. Maybe they'll find it as amusing as we did. BTW, isn't "Business" spelled the same in the U.K. as in the U.S.? :)

I've actually gotten a hardcopy letter from Nigeria with a similar proposal. Nice postage stamp for my old collection.

I do believe it is the same, yes :)

I thinmk I'll froward it to the police as you suggest. Let's see if we can't spoil this jokers day :).

gullible fools. Anyone who believes garbage like this from one of the most corrupt places on the planet should have their account emptied.

Eh? It came from the UK. I'm inclined to believe that it's ONE of the most corrupt places on the planet, but were that the case, I'd have to include the USA in the same list (along with much of europe)

Heh, I'm sure Tedster is referring to Nigeria which is quite infamous for this sort of scam.
