I am trying to get my old P3 system up and running again. I have used an HP Deskjet 932C printer with it for years employing the parallel port. My motherboard is only cerified for USB 1.1 but at the time this printer was made I believe 1.1 is what it was cerified for. I can't find my documentation and even HP doesn't say in their online specs.

So, which is faster, the parrallel port or USB 1.1?

    Thanks.

Deskjet printers do not care. They cannot even use all the speed of USB 1.1.

Thanks for the quick reply. Does that go for the newest inkjet/dekjet printers as well?

We repair and service printers. We have not seen any with a USB socket that will not work on a USB 1.1 computer... but we do not service Dell's (which are essentially just Lexmarks which do work on USB.)
