I once played this cool game and just cant remember the name of it. Was hopping someone can help. It's a strategy game. You can chose an army and a kingdom of humans, elf's, dwarfs or some evil thing. Its a map where you move your characters to concur the opposition. You also engage in close combat with the enemy. You research things in your castle. Now does that sounds familiar to anyone?

It sort of sounds like the Heroes of Might and Magic series.

There's The Lords of Midnight which was a massive hit in the 1980's. The games designer Mike Singleton died in 2012 but a revamped version was released in 2013 for the PC. Even if it isn't the one you are thinking of it's likely just as good. It has it's own website.
