On Windows 8.1 I get no sound on my laptop

Hello I've got my fingers crossed that someone is able to help me. I made a mistake in using a program called Driver Booster which was supposed to update my drivers but I suspect installed a faulty driver on to my laptop and I now have no sound at all and Spotify says it can't play tracks. I've been to my laptops' manufacturers website and downloaded the chipset driver and two Realtek audio driver but none of them gave me any sound. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help greatly appreciated.

Do you see any yellow (!) in the device manager?

Hi Tmagic650 thank you for your reply. After having a lot of problems with other things I decided to reset my hard drive and that has fixed all the problems including with the sound. I don't remember seeing any yellow in the device manager but the sound test wouldn't work. Anyway it is fixed now but again thanks for the reply.
