I have an HP nc6220 laptop that is freezing at startup.
I think it may be the HDD but I am really not sure. Any suggestions would help.
Here are the symptoms:
When I turn the computer on I get the "we're sorry, but the system did not boot correctly etc..."
When I choose either "boot windows normally" or "last known good configuration"
I get the Windows boot screen with the windows XP logo and the running blue bar underneath. The computer will just stay hung on that screen for as long as I leave it on.
When I choose any of the safe mode options. It starts searching for files and again just freezes.
When I put in a boot CD and try to repair. It freezes when searching for files
When I put in a boot CD and try to re-install, it tells me there is a problem with the disc.
Once again, any suggestions would be helpful. I purchased a hard drive and a new OS, but if this problem has been solved and I can return those items, I would be super appreciative. Thanks for the help!
