Opera works fine, but IE and Firefox don't

I've been searching through all the posts here and found a lot of info about IE and Firefox not working (the dreaded "Page Cannot Be Displayed"). However, I prefer Opera and it works fine and dandy. Unfortunately, there are some sites that still require you to use IE (when will they learn!?!).

I've followed a lot of the suggestions posted, but nothing has worked. Short of wiping my system and starting over, is there any advice someone can offer that might help? Many thanks in advance.

Tried setting up the proxy settings manually? That solves it most of the time.

You need to know what proxy settings your ISP uses. Call up your ISP's tech support and ask them to give you the proxy settings for IE. Follow whatever they tell you to do and then use these same settings for Firefox.
