Optical drive activity light has got to go

I use Sugru to cover led's, it won't ever fall off on its own but will come off without any mess if you need it to. Its also very good for fixing rattling pc case panels.

Dang, no body suggested just taking a drill to it? If you know you'll never miss it this works surprisingly well. My next favorite is using a powered by corsair badge, I have a nice collection of those from when I built custom PCs and kept all the stickers, Corsair, Noctua, Intel, Asus, looks better than tape and they do not let any light at all through them.

Ya so I was looking for a software solution. But I'm with you guys. I think electrical tape will work. The case I have now is a Next Phantom 410 which has a door over the 5.25 drives so its not a problem. But my new case is a Corsair Graphite series which does not have a door over the 5.25 slots. -Which really I would think someone would have thought of that before. My rig is a gaming PC and most importantly, a media center. That's why its under the TV.

But thanks for all the help. I don't plan to open it up and start cutting leads :) ill just tape that sucker.

So the build is going down this weekend. I will post back with the end result so you can see what I'm talking about. If I could post video I could show you how active those lights get when playing a cd. I think most of them dont realize that constant activity is the music being read.

So I decided to just change lanes entirely. I'm not sure why these case mfgs are so determined to get rid of the slot all together. So sending back the case with the 3 5.25 slots in exchange for a case that has 0. And a refurbished Asus Blu-ray burner that has a nice little stand that can sit on the shelf. -Once its all done ill see if I can't get a pic. I find it odd that less people would be using optical drives though. It's like they are being phased out but..... my car has a 10 cd changer (and a casette player). Why would I not need a killer case with 1 optical drive? Conspiracy?

Big people like Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple are pushing for digital to "save the planet," AKA save money on printing.

Besides, in several years, cars won't have cd players (cassette players already gone) and instead, 20-24 inch touch displays as powerful as a modern gaming rig. Car companies seem to think adding tons of tech and a billion buttons is somehow important to the driving capabilities of their cars.

Looking forward to the pictures!

P.S. That ten disk player sounds awesome!
P.P.S Also, I'm guessing your car is at least from the 2000's to still have a cassette player.

Manner you are almost correct. It's actually a 2004 model. As to the build I did complete it and although the new external BD writer still has a blink. Its at least a slow blink. That other drive was a freak. like blinking crazy. I outta sell it on e-bay like its a feature. Buy the one with the schizophrenic activity light.
