Oukitel K10000 Pro smartphone goes two weeks on one charge

The Oukitel K10000 Pro can confidently say that it has the longest battery life of any smartphone currently on the market. Its enormous 10,000mAh is said to be able to go 10-15 days on a single charge. In fact, the battery is so big that its predecessor, the K10000, which has the same battery, could be used to charge other devices. The original could fully charge three iPhone 7s and still have 10 percent of its juice left. That feat is likely to hold true for the Pro as well.

Charging the massive battery is not a long waiting game either. Thanks to Oukitel’s 12V/2A “flash charger,” the battery does not take any longer to charge than most other smartphones. The company claims that the K10000 Pro only takes 3.5 hours to charge. In practical tests of the K10000, a charge time from empty to full in four hours was reported. That is only little longer than advertised, but still good for such a large battery.

Of course, there are going to be some tradeoffs for that extra battery life; the most obvious is size. While not an ugly phablet by any means, the Oukitel K10000 Pro is not going to win any styling innovation awards. The chassis is a bit reminiscent of the old Motorola Blackjack with the extended battery, except with all screen instead of a keyboard and a larger surface area of course. I actually like the somewhat retro look of the phone and can imagine a sturdy heft that is not unwelcome.

While somewhat bulkier than many competing brands, the phone can still easily slip into a pocket. The 5.5-inch HD (1280x720) Gorilla Glass display is just as big as the iPhone 7 Plus, so it is perfect for viewing movies or games; both activities of which the large battery is well suited.

While its 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750T processor is no match for Samsung’s 2.6GHz M1 or Apple’s 2.3GHz A10, it still sports 3GB of RAM like its competitors. The Android operating system (version unknown) should be able to handle all but the most resource demanding applications. From a performance standpoint, the Pro is an upgrade from the original K10000, which had a 1GHz processor and half the RAM. Oukitel also doubled the phone's storage to 32GB.

Not much else is known about the K10000 Pro at this time other than the “teaser” image provided by Oukitel (shown above; below is the K10000). Pocket-lint speculated on a couple of things shown in the image.

“There appears to be what looks like a fingerprint scanner underneath the rear camera and a leather-effect rear panel. There's also a glimpse of what looks like a pen in the image, which could be a stylus, but that one is up for debate.”

Speaking of the camera: while there is no word on the camera specs for the Pro, the original K10000 had a 3-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8MP in the rear. The Pro will certainly have at least the same, but probably better camera technology.

At up to two weeks under normal use, the battery life of the Oukitel K10000 Pro is certainly intriguing. Users who can say their iPhone battery can even last through the day are a rare breed. For those of us tired of the over-priced smartphones coming out of the Korean behemoth and the Cupertino fruit company, the price tag might also be a lure. While a price has not been announced for the Pro yet, the previous iteration went for $211, which is about a third of what the big boys charge.

An exact release date has not been nailed down, but the company says the K10000 Pro will ship sometime in June. However, do not run to the store expecting to find it unless you live in China. You will likely have to purchase it online. You can view a list of stores that carry the brand at the Oukitel website.

Too bad Mediateks are kinda power hungry. The MT6750 is a 28 nm SoC.

If they used a SD 625, it probably would have lasted two weeks instead of one :)
 
Once again we will have the convenience of a phone that acts as it's own built in self-defense device .... all conveniently in a single package. You can bludgeon your attacker while getting some dandy pictures of them at the same time ...... priceless!!!
 
I like it.
That being said the battery will lose its much of its consistency within 6 months, in 18 months it may last a day or two.
 
Im a bit amazed no big manufacturer has caught onto "Dont give a crap if my phone is a half inch or more thick if it lasts a week" market


I was looking for an inexpensive, LARGE battery phone for a backup...this one would fit the bill, IF it
worked on LTE in the USA.
 
Upgrade the internals to at least last year's flagship level (1080P is fine) with a great camera and Verizon capable and I'll pay a LOT more than $211 for a phone that only lasts half this long (which I'm assuming the upgrades would eat into).
 
The specs were terrible until I saw the price. At ~$250 this would be a nice niche product for people who prefer battery life over performance.
 
It could be good if you travel a lot and can't spend a few hours a day at a charge point. But it's basically the same as having a phone and a power bank. Plus I doubt my in-car air-vent mounting kit could take that much weight :)
 
10-15 days of standby/not using it or 1.5 - 2.5 days if you actually use it. With todays smartphone battery tech you would need 50,000mAh+ to be hitting these targets.

According to all I've read, it's 10-15 days under normal usage. So in other words, games movies and what not are obviously going to drain it faster. But simply taking calls texting maybe a little Facebooking here and there, you're probably going to be hitting the 10-15 mark.
 
OK, you're trying to tell me this phone is going run for 15 days on a single charging of its 10,000 MA Lithium battery? Nonsense! I say, "liar, liar, pants on fire"! Hey wait a minute, I must be confusing this thing with the Galaxy note 7.:D

Although, if one of these babies lights up in your pocket the question you'll be asking the missus will be, "how would you feel about having baked testicles for dinner, Martha"? :eek:

It gives one pause to wonder how much a 10,000 MA lithium polymer battery, is equal to in C-4... Anybody?:confused: (By weight or by volume, whichever is most convenient).;)
 
Best they may manage is maybe 2-3 days. I use the galaxy s7 edge and if I was to use it for gaming, and a few youtube and facebook vids, emails etc I would probably get about 15 hours usage. I have a 10k portable battery which might just give me two full charges (maybe a little more) so now we are looking at 45-50 hours taking into account though that essentially I started off with around 13500mah (the phones original charge). Unless ofc this handet is very low powered (performance wise) then it may exceed this.
