    Maybe I am an ***** here....But the other night I was board and opened Outlook on my computer. To my surprise it was populated with my email. And I don't even use Outlook! How did it get configured this way? And how do I stop it, just uninstall Outlook?

    Thanks for any input.....

    The easiest way is just to uninstall it (as part of M$-Office).

    When you installed Office (probably as per the recommended way), it came with it and configured itself based upon your Outlook Express settings.

    Both O and OE should be removed and replaced by Mozilla Thunderbird.

    good question. You may wish to keep Outlook (which is different from Outlook Express) for the Calendar and Contacts features.

    To stop Outlook from accessing your email:
    use menu tools->accounts
    delete all Mail accounts but the default
    on the default->properties
    there's a box at the bottom, clear the check mark, "Include this account ..."

    To stop Outlook Express: follow the same instructions above.

    Many users are recommending Thunderbird for email. What are you using?

    I see many recommendations to use Thunderbird. Guess I'm just lazy, never tryed it. I am currently using my ISP's email, bellsouth.

    Maybe I will try Thunderbird. My wife hates BellSouths email service anyways. She "was" always use to AOHell. She is still mad that I got rid of them 2 years ago!

    Thanks for the advice.....

    (forgot to mention, I have never used Outlook or Outlook Express.)
