Just looking for some opinions.

I currently have a Socket 478 P4 Northwood 2.2GHZ CPU, 400mhzFSB. I believe I can overclock it relatively safely up to 2.93ghz.

I have an ASUS mobo, so this is technically free. My other choice is to upgrade to a Prescott 3ghz and get the 800fsb and 1mb L2 cache, but it will run consideralbly hotter.

a 700 mhz overclock is not going to leave the northwood cool. I would opt for the 3.ghz prescott.

From what I read he plans on either overclocking the nortthwood or getting a Prescott and running it at stock speeds.
