Overlaying text onto video

  1. I want to add text to my videos as a watermark before I upload them to Youtube.
I just want my username to appear for a few seconds.
I can use Sony Vegas 8 to add subtitles. This works but the video is re-encoded. I cannot see a way to pass through the source video.
Can anyone advise how I can add my text while keeping the source video as is - ie not re-encoded. Is there a way to do this in Sony Vegas or can anyone recommend any other software.

    Thanks,

Sony Vegas 8.0 looks like a very nice piece of software... You should be able to do anything you want with it. Have you checked with Sony support?

Draw text on video without re-encode it is impossible.

You can understand that for display text on video, video frame should be decode (you draw text) and encode for save in new file.

But if you wand to draw a text in few seconds only, you can encode/re-encode only part of video.

For it i use VideoCharge Studio: it is very simple.

    1. Use Wizard for set parameters: you text, and its.

    2. On last step select "Later"

    3. Click on Tree on VideoFile1...

    4. In dialog go to Format and select "Without-Recompression"

    5. Check a "Editing Video".
