P5LD2-X, lan socket not working

Hello again.

I'm having some problems with my lan connection.
When I connect my ethernet cable to the lan socket the lights doesn't show (you know the little green and yellow light that shows if it's connected/is sending information)..
I know the cable works because I tried it with my other computer.

This is my motherboard, it has a lan socket aswell.
Asus P5LD2-X/1333 i945GC 2DDR2-DIMM 3PCI 3PCIe SATA Audio LAN Socket775 ATX

I'm guessing:
1) The lan socket is broken.
2) I don't have the correct drivers installed.

Hi

you will only get lights on the socket if the cable is plugged into a HUB or a ROUTER, if you plug it straight into another PC it wont work, to go from PC to PC you need a cross over cable.

If you are plugging into a hub or router and your lights dont come on then yes the socket is stuffed.
