Great news, Pac-Man fans! Bandai Namco has confirmed that the sequel to Pac-Man Championship Edition will launch later this year.

The aptly-named Pac-Man Championship Edition 2, as GameSpot highlights, will offer the same overall style of gameplay (think fast-paced and lots of neon lighting) but with a number of additions. For example, you’ll now be able to bump ghosts around the maze, create new types of ghost trains and have as many as four at once.

Bandai Namco is also introducing boss battles – giant boss ghosts that occupy large portions of the maze at once. You also get a new Adventure mode and the return of Attack mode, a favorite from its predecessor.

Pac-Man is one of the most iconic names in all of gaming, right up there with Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong. The game made its debut as an arcade game in Japan in 1980 before landing in North America by the end of the year. It became an instant hit with consumers, reportedly generating more than $1 billion in quarters in its first year alone.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is scheduled to arrive this September on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam) as a digital download. Those who plan on attending Comic-con in San Diego this week can try the game out a couple of months early.
