Parameters for replacing a laptop optical drive?

    So I have an Alienware Sentia m3200. My brother broke the CD part of the laser assembly. I guess I must replace this.

    I was looking around the almighty net and although DVDRW drives are listed as different for different laptops they are very often the exact same size and use the exact same IDE connection.

    Can I buy any DVDRW drive that is left-mounted, IDE 50, slim and replace the drive cover with my Sentia's?
