i have an older dell pc and i seem to have 3 copies now of windows xp and i cannot remove them for some reason.......i need a free program that will allow me to format and delete partitions thanx

go to seagate and dwnld the seagate disc wizard utility
its free and will reformat if you feel uncomfortable with that vender try the maker of your drive.
also ther is a bootable software called the ultimate boot disc
but you have to burn to cd

If you have the XP CD, you can do it straight from there. Just boot to the XP CD (in a Dell, this can usually be done by pushing the F12 button during POST), then go through the setup procedure and read the screens. When you get to the final install screen, you have the option of deleting and recreating the partition, then format and install a fresh copy of XP.
