PayPal has announced that its mobile payments app is now available for the Pebble smartwatch, allowing owners of the device to make purchases at supported locations.

"At PayPal, we’re working to make shopping easy and seamless so that you are one step closer to walking into a store and being able to place your order and pay without ever reaching into your pocket", the company said in a blog post.

With the new app, Pebble users will be able to pay either with an auto-generated payment code at any PayPal-friendly location including restaurants and other local businesses, or for certain retailers, by checking into a store on the PayPal app. When using the latter method, the app will automatically communicate with the merchant’s point of sale.

In addition, you will also be able to receive payment notifications through the app, which means that you'll no longer have to take out your smartphone to complete a transaction.

PayPal's integration with Pebble comes just a few months before the launch of the Apple Watch, which is expected to happen early next year. The Cupertino-based company has just released the software development kit for its upcoming smartwatch, revealing that the two models of the device have different display resolutions.

Pebble is not the only wearable device offering PayPal as a mobile payments solution. In fact, the payments giant now has a presence across all major wearable platforms, including Android Wear devices, as well as the Samsung Gear S, Gear 2, and Gear Fit.
