PC cant find hard drive.

  1. I downloaded a game from download.com. Installed it. Clicked the icon to start the game and "poof" I get the "your computer is shutting down to protect itself" blue screen.

I tried to repair windows but it tells me it doesn't appear I have *any* hard drives, which is making me wonder if it's a virus or maybe hardware... I can't even reformat with a new install of windows because of the same issue.

However I ran some diagnostics from those scary DOS-looking screens you get to from the boot/setup commands, and it says there's a drive there.

(I cant get to windows through safe mode or last config either)

    Any ideas/suggestions?

So, what do I do to get rid of it? Or make the hard drive usable again?

Might not be a virus/trojan, just could be crappy programming.

Try a Windows Repair off the install disk.

You might loose some data though.
