That's kind of my point Blind Dragon
Instead of going through all this (huge and lengthy scans)
Wouldn't it be much easier to do a preliminary, preliminary (!) cleanup?

ie Before doing any work what-so-ever
Remove all the temp stuff (using the best one you prefer)
Do the IE Reset thing (it really gets lots of that stuff removed)
Do the Startup entries removal (ie you don't need to instruct here, just say, remove the ones you don't want!)

Run an Updated AntiVirus scan (Note we haven't checked the log yet)
Run MalwareBytes (and remove all found) And any other program, you normally recommend

Oh now we can read that log !

I believe the actual preliminary removal steps don't state that these things are quicker and better for all to do.
The resposibility should be on the user.

Who may later format anyway, due to the lengthy proceedure, of no easy preliminary steps (except that big one, that they need to provide all these logs)

The question is:

When a user reports they have this error (or that Virus)

Do we just remove that fault, or do absolutely everything?

Even the Antivirus companies just provide one single tool to remove the single issue.

I think most users just want that one thing fixed. All this other stuff can be posted on a new thread, for another single issue. (actually maybe at this stage they could follow the big preliminary removal guide)

Just as a note, I used to remove and fix users issues of "I've found a virus" until I have since been patronized as "there are many more issues to deal with"
And as stated on a few occasions. Yes I know, the list can be endless" Actually even a clean install (ie above) is not safe nor clean.

Should it be fixed? No (unless specifically asked)

By the way, thanks for your support anyway, it's above and beyond the call of duty (ie that's why I stopped)

Glad to hear the problem is solved -

@kimsland - I feel that there is a big difference in removing symptoms and removing malware.
