Dear Friends,
My new ( 2 weeks old)PC with intel i7 processor , intel® Desktop Board DX58SO with 4gbDDR.
It was showing some problem even from the beginning during installation of XP.
Repeated blue screen. After doing chkdisc and removing one of the RAM s ( from 6 GB to 4 gb) i was able to install XP.
I installed antivirus and updated windows. I updated the bios also
Now when i connect my ext hard disc of 1 tb or of 160 gb. it automatically restarts. But not always. Most of the times it is when I am just connecting the usb.
What should I do?

This may sound a little stupid, but ensure that your PSU power cord is plugged in tightly. If it's loose you may disturb the cord while pushing in the USB, causing the computer to restart.

The sytem restarts and shows the system recovered from major error.
when the error is reported to microsft. suggested to do memory disnostics.
1st test is passed. No error.
