PC tech support to customers: steer clear of Windows 10

Not so easily avoided when MS is automatically upgrading systems. You know how people tend to go with the flow, when as you say they don't know.
nobody is going to automatically upgrade anything. it just downloads the update. you still have to go through the normal upgrade procedures with all of the bells and whistles. you won't suddenly wake up with windows 10 on your PC.
I seriously don't understand you. you know all of the details about the upgrade and yet you still post these weird ideas and misconceptions. is it intentional? stop scaring people into thinking MS is going to force win 10 to install on their systems.

That's because you are delusional in thinking that automatic upgrading does not cause problems, simply because user feedback is an OK continue button. User feedback which in your own words suggest people don't know what they are doing. You would be surprised at the number of people that don't even know which Windows version they are running, much less understand what upgrading means or the possible problems they may face by clicking continue. Updates are one thing but an OS upgrade should never be presented as an automatic feature.

Those are some of the worst technical suggestions I have ever heard. None of that was a Win10 issue. I work engineering for a large PC manufacturer and what I know is that L1 and L2 at most companies now are useless. No one gets training anymore and its all about the call time, not about the call quality with the witless management surrounding these organizations. When IT salaries became a race to the bottom, per upper management edict, independent thought went out the window with it.

After reading all comments, I've to say that in todays day there are many people who can help PC users upgrade their OS. It is not necessary that they be IT Savvy & do it themselves as well. This is a deadly job & cannot / should not be done by ordinary IT Users. IT Professionals are a different breed & they can do it with little / no probs. Regarding problems as faced in win-10 updates I'm sure that such probs were there in version 7 / 8 / 8.1 as well but over time could get resolved.
