enter bios and set to boot from cd, then put your xp disk in and restart.
it will then say to boot from cd press any key. Then try do a repair.

Let mek know if this works

Ok, i tried a repair but when it got to the 1st windows screen it did nothing else, just froze.Left it for 20 minutes, still frozen. Could it be the power supply, dead rail to ram or something?

i'm relaying this to my girlfriend, she lives to far away to pop in, and i think removing ram is beyond her. I'll try to talk her through it
