PDF Files disappeared... rogue antispyware?

  1. I downloaded about 100 files, each separately, to a special folder tucked away on a hard drive. Now, some 6 weeks later I'm ready to work with them, but they are not there. The folder is gone, the files are gone. Now I'm pretty much an expert at dealing with files, downloads and storage and more than that, I'm really anal when it comes to organization. I wonder if my Avast firewall, Malwarebytes or SuperAntiSpyware programs might have removed these files without giving me a heads up on them. If I go through the agony of downloading them again, I fear a repeat of this problem. Anyone want to take a shot at this?

note: the files I downloaded are simply online versions of Videomaker magazine from past years. Nothing that would be harboring malware.

Test using ONE and prove where they are stored. Then open it to be sure it's usable.

Your antivirus may be the issue, but if so, don't disable it just yet.

    1) which AV are you using
    2) share a URL for us to test
