yesterday while i was at school comcast came over to rehook up my internet, the guy installed the drivers for usb for the motorola surfboard. when i came home, i started my pc and everything was running good. i then decided to update my call of duty 4 by installing the patches. i attempted to play, but said i needed to start the pnkbstrA.exe. so i check boxed this in the msconfig window and restarted my pc. as soon as it got to the welcome screen, it crashed to a blue screen which said

"***STOP: 0X00000008E(0xC0000005, 0x8062c26b, 0xF67B998c, 0x00000000)

Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete.............contact system adminstrator, etc."

it did this everytime i tryed to restart, so i went into safe mode and chose system restore to before i installed the patches. it ran through and restarted as it should. but then i decided to restart my pc without updating the cod 4 or activating punk buster.

could it possibly be the motorola drivers? they seem to be working right now

please help, thanks.

0x8E errors are nearly always hardware/hardware compatibility issues though sometimes they can be due to a device driver. Let's try to narrow this down:

1. Are you having any other issues besides this one game?

2. Did this game run fine before patching?
