gamers favor ps4 xbox amazon poll amazon ps3 xbox one

Amazon is running a poll on their Facebook page asking readers which next generation console – Sony’s PlayStation 4 or Microsoft’s Xbox One – they prefer. If you’ve been reading story comments or message boards since E3, the results probably won’t surprise you much.

With more than five days left to vote, the Xbox One has amassed 1,754 votes (as of writing). The PlayStation 4, on the other hand, has 31,689 votes. Yeah, it’s not even remotely close. Sony executives must be feeling pretty happy at this point but at Microsoft, the atmosphere probably isn’t as cheery.

True, we won’t know how all of this pans out for a few more years but right now, the results are pretty telling. That’s because, unlike other polls you may find on fan sites, Amazon is a neutral party with a huge fan base that consists of both Sony and Microsoft homers (as well fans of games in general).

A quick look at Amazon’s Best Sellers list in their video games category solidifies what we are seeing in the poll. As of writing, the launch day edition of the PlayStation 4 is already sold out. Sony’s standard edition console – with a release date of December 31, 2013 – is currently ranked first ahead of the Xbox One.

That said, do you agree with the findings in Amazon’s poll thus far? If you had to choose between the two right now, would you go with Sony’s offering or lean more towards Microsoft?

Update (6/17): It appears Amazon took down the poll, but not before visitors had a chance to take a screenshot of the results. As of late Sunday the numbers were equally one-sided with 38984 votes for the PS4 versus 2162 for the Xbox One.

Eh, ah, lopsided isn't it. Could be ballot box stuffing, but probably not. Frankly, I would hold back...Xbox One might be heavily discounted if this stays true.

Microsoft would be a better company if they actualy thought like real people instead of money hungry jerks the most ridiciulous ideas they released are mostly

-overpriced way over Ps4
-Membership
-Has weaker hardware then ps4
-internet constant checks and is a need for updates and for content
-Drm is allowed

congratz to sony for actually making a console which is good for anyone decent price good content I used to have an xbox but im giving xbox one a hands down. im not saying xbox one is bad it has its good and bad but microsoft need to get in the peoples shoes u cant make people pay that kind of money and then expect to add extra fees and charges with the console itself

As much as I might agree with the rest of your comment, if we can justify purchasing a PS4 or XBox One there is no crisis.

we cannot justify it well lets just make an example im not that rich neighter poor but I made a strict budget of keeping 80Euros a month aside and I bought my pc in a year I know its a long time but lets just make it a normal person gets payed $1000 dollars or euros if u keep $50 each month youll have enough for it by when its out but unfortunatly the world has alot of bad cases which is why il just put down the statement as its true health care does go over a ps4 or xbox one. ty for making that statement

This is to be expected considering the DRM and internet connectivity situation.

Funny how no one looks at how the Sony handled DRM before, and how they didn't say out right that 3rd party publishers can also institute their own DRM for used party sales. The PS4 comes in at $100 less on their lowest tier.

I don't agree with everything MS does but to turn a blind eye to Sony's practices seems a little foolish.

To me $4-500 dollars better spent on a gaming PC that would drive circles around the coming consoles. That amount of money would get you at least half way to a nice setup minus a descent display. Just saying.

I would like to know what you people think about this: http://www.neowin.net/news/anonymous-xbox-engineer-explains-drm-and-microsofts-xbox-one-intentions
I for one would love a Steam-like console, and I think MS has the potential to get it right... at least eventually :p

I actually never thought of that, but it does make a lot of sense. It's a great idea if they pull it off.

I just wish Microsoft was able to get those facts into the headlines rather than the "ZOMG THEY ARE TRYING TO F**K US FOR NO REASON" scares.

You're slipping dude...usually you would post your computer specs.

I find the Japanese electronic company arrogant and I wont support it with my American dollars and I bet allot of other family guy Dads wont ether. Why would I want to drive to Gamestop anyway to trade a used disk for another warn out used disk. I tell my kid to buy a downloadable game and save myself the hassle. DRM is a red herring to which Sony hopes it can hang its hat on for a few years. Heck if people love storage media so much they should demand all future games come on carts like old school days. The Sony is only $50 cheaper when you include the Sony Big eye. The reason Microsoft is requiring the Kenect for the Xbox one is so developers will include it in there games. Third party developers will not risk the cash on a add on that most people will not have. The Kenect is smart tech and people will come to rely on it in the future. The Xbox has more family innovation. College kids have no jobs and live off mom and dad and teens get what dad buys so I think the guys that have a life and don't vote in this thing will buy the family product. Dads win Nerds lose

The problem with PC gaming is You Will Spend Allot Of Time Driving Circles To The Walmart to upgrade your PC for the latest game. This game for that new card and more memory , and another new card and then crash , crash , because a driver failed to work with some such monitor and motherboard configuration. People that think their special because their a PC gamer spend more time telling people their a PC gamer than actually playing games. My PC is awesome , My PC is better than your PC. Blah.blah. blah. Guess what nerd my 10k in home theaters 2 of them blows away your PC in gaming. 2Panasonic 65" plasma , 2Yamaha 7.2 140watts per channel ,14 M&K speakers and 2 sub woofers ,dusty PS3 and over used xbox360. I dont have to wonder if my gaming system is configured correctly to play the game, It plays the game no problems EVERY TIME. Boom! Get a real job then step up to the plate and buy both systems

I knew the PS4 will win any poll, but this is just funny. ^_^
Mrcobbynot: I'm european, can you tell me what the new XBOX will bring besides an expensive skype camera and an underpowered gaming console? considering where I live I'm 90% sure that the TV stuff won't work.

As much as I want MS and SONY to be on par this generation, I just don't see it happening. The only place where XBOX will sell "ok" is NA (since that's their target market). They aren't even launching it in Asia.

BTW some of the problems with PC's you pointed out are because of MS and because of guys that actually go to wallmart to build a PC.

It only takes about 1000$ to build a decent PC that can play games in HD (30-60FPS max details). If you are patient you can find great deals.

Haha! Your funny :D if what you say is true, why aren't you using a ps2? Or N64? If you put games in them they work every time too! :)

Either way, your setup is more expensive than 99% of all gaming rigs on the globe, I can also bet a lot of those gamers would prefer their setup over yours purely because they still get a better experience with decent headphones, sound card and higher Res screen plus almost all games on PC run at a higher framerate and better graphic settings. True computers are prone to crashing, but since windows 7, I'm yet to have a blue screen, my Xbox has crashed more often. Any "dad" who buys this are seriously not thinking about what they have really purchased, they are essentially proving to Microsoft they don't mind their rights being taken away from them, they don't mind paying over the odds for a less powerful machine and actually want to use more power to watch TV. Also if your ps3 is dusty, why not give it a clean and pickup a copy of "the last of us" you might just be surprised how good the ps3 still is :)

If your constantly going to Walmart to upgrade your PC, that is your first problem. The real problem is that u never knew about computers to start with. You don't buy computers from Walmart unless your just looking to just email and surf internet. Gaming computers are either built by you yourself or from companies that design for Gamers. There are only a handful that do it right. You can build a decent computer for gaming around $1000 that will last you a few years(roughly 3 maybe more, upgrading video card every 2-3 yrs unless its a higher end model) . If your a gamer you will spend around $1500-$2000 that can last you 5+ yrs, especially if when using high end parts. At some point though you will have to upgrade again, while true, you may not have to upgrade everything. Computers are more complex but its not for those who want a simple solution, especially if your a gamer as there are many issues that can and do happen while gaming. You will have to research any and all issues. In the end, find the soultion that works best for you. In a computer world, not all soultions work for everyone.
If you want something simple, works easier, can never be campared to a pc and basically never be called a real gamer, get a console. You will never be able to upgrade a console without spending $400+(new generations).

First Off I was generalizing when I said Walmart aka brick and mortar. Does FRYs make more since. Now a days I would check new egg or Amazon. I have no need to build a computer and hunt down the latest drivers to config the system. I have built 2 386 machines in my early days before plug and play was ever heard of. When people actually built the computer from the ground up. Today kids plug in a new Video card or plug in some memory dimm and tell people they built a computer. Lmao Anybody can build a computer this day an age but why would I want to when I could have some slave laborer from China to do it. The last computer I bought was from tiger direct configured online and shipped to my door. Microsoft wont waste its time in Asia because the Asian people prefer buying machines built by Asians. The Xbox is built in China but I guess its still to American for there tastes. PC gaming is for lonely nerds who live with there parents because their to big of losers to find a life and a job. I could run my computer threw HDMI from my Vid card to my home theater but why deal with the headache of wondering if the game is going to crash. Then spend more time trying to tweak the game settings so it will run consistently. Whatever..Nerds go play WOWC and pull your puds or diddle your muffins to online porn because you cant get a life or a woman or man which ever you prefer.

Well, maybe newegg, not Walmart. But upgrading your PC is half the fun.

Why are we comparing the hardware so closely between the PS4 and Xbox? There has been recent news that shows games' complexity improve more during a life of a console than from one console generation to the next. Won't the better (gaming) system come down to how well the developers can make high tech games? The other differences just sound mostly like preferences.

Here's my 2 cents as how it affects me and what I'd like. I prefer to have a disc for later play, years later play, despite the so call future is digital I like a disc so I can see my monies product, also as we know, M$ likes so shaft its customers and don't give a **** about us and when they decide to upgrade or turn off some of they servers to hell with us and the money we've spent on games.. how many of us can whip out our xbox original and it's games or our sega or old N64's and use them, what will you be able do come 10 maybe 15 years and all the monies you've spent, what will you have to show for it. do you think you'll be able to play your games..
