PlayStation 4 is destroying the Xbox One in Amazon customer poll

what will you be able do come 10 maybe 15 years and all the monies you've spent, what will you have to show for it. do you think you'll be able to play your games..
I hadn't even thought about a future with XBox One.

All Microsoft would need to do is shut down their activation server, and every XBox One would be rendered useless. Is this what you want out of a console? A brand spanking new console with a predetermined lifespan. Possibly a ticker that stops ticking when the next gen console is released.

The problem with PC gaming is You Will Spend Allot Of Time Driving Circles To The Walmart to upgrade your PC for the latest game. This game for that new card and more memory , and another new card and then crash , crash , because a driver failed to work with some such monitor and motherboard configuration. People that think their special because their a PC gamer spend more time telling people their a PC gamer than actually playing games. My PC is awesome , My PC is better than your PC. Blah.blah. blah. Guess what nerd my 10k in home theaters 2 of them blows away your PC in gaming. 2Panasonic 65" plasma , 2Yamaha 7.2 140watts per channel ,14 M&K speakers and 2 sub woofers ,dusty PS3 and over used xbox360. I dont have to wonder if my gaming system is configured correctly to play the game, It plays the game no problems EVERY TIME. Boom! Get a real job then step up to the plate and buy both systems

Well if you weren't a dolt trying to upgrade your dell beige box with parts from walmart you wouldn't have those problems. My 2 year old pc is still more powerful than the xbox1 and PS4, which means it will never ever ever need any upgrades to play new games at xbx1/ps4 level graphics. And it has HDMI out, optical and analog 7.1 audio outs, and a usb xbox controller, and I use it both on my living room TV system, and my office monitor.

Also, televisions have terrible pixel density. My 23 inch 2048x1152 secondary monitor looks way better than my 55 inch 1920x1080 TV, and my 2560x1440 monitor makes any consumer television on the market look like a 1999 nokia cellphone LCD.

Your television sucks compared to a monitor, and even if you can't afford a computer monitor, then you can hook a pc up to a TV and get better than xbox1/ps4 performance along with loads of flexibility. If you use an operating system released in the last 3 years, drivers aren't even an issue. Complaining about drivers and getting pc components at wal mart means you are dumb, it doesn't mean pc's are dumb.

Well, maybe newegg, not Walmart. But upgrading your PC is half the fun.

Why are we comparing the hardware so closely between the PS4 and Xbox? There has been recent news that shows games' complexity improve more during a life of a console than from one console generation to the next. Won't the better (gaming) system come down to how well the developers can make high tech games? The other differences just sound mostly like preferences.

The new systems are x86, which is what PC's are, so there won't be the dramatic learning curve for the platform like there was for the last generation.

The ps4 will be great for hipsters, as optical discs are the new vinyl. But I have no attachment to outdated and cumbersome technology, so I'll take my games like I take my music, video, and text- completely free of slow physical media.

The problem with your post is that it's stupid.

You obviously haven't built a great pc before. You can spend the money to buy a pc that will last for years. The more you spend, the longer it will last. I spent roughly 750$ on my pc, which isn't much at all, and it blows away the Xbox and ps4 hardware while being 2 years old. (not to mention you can do more on it in general)

Gaming isn't moving at that fast of a pace yet. When it gets to the point that every year brings some leap in gaming technology that computer components become obsolete that quick, we will be beyond naming things consoles and pc's and most likely have a machine that can make us dinner and wash our clothes for us while we play with just our minds.

Although always being a PlayStation person since the ps1 I went into E3 without any bias towards the new systems especially due to the few issues with the ps3 and also the fact that most of my friends had a 360 instead but after both announcements and honestly taking everything into consideration it is without doubt the ps4 will be the better system for me as well as almost all my friends which is great. A majority of the extra "features" that the xbox one has are completely unnecessary to me, ps4 has everything I need and for cheaper too. I don't want that gimmicky kinect either, it's cool for the first 2 weeks but its novelty wears off really fast

@Mrcobbynot people like you make me sick, your clear lack of reasoning along with your stereotypical nature and ignorance makes me almost feel sorry for you.

I usually end up buying both, but I'll buy the least expensive one first knowing that the prices will drop.

Steam is far superior than the aberration of Xbox One features, and Xbox Live + Games for WIndows Live combined.
Is not even like wise.

Doesn't surprise me at all.

The Xbox One was engineered with good intentions, but Microsoft's greedy executives have killed an otherwise good console.

Not only is it relatively slower than the PS4 due to the pretense that cloud gaming is the future, but it also costs more due to the needlessly mandatory inclusion of Kinect.

Even if you are an Xbox fan, and have been for years. it is NOT ok, it is not "cool", to support Microsoft and their clear anti-consumer practices. Don't let THEM tell you when, where, how, and who to share/trade/sell YOUR games with. Wake the **** up.

I already pre-ordered my PS4 with a Driveclub bundle. And I still got my PC.

Woohoo, lawfer were on the same side with this topic. :)

It's hilarious to see all these former Xbox fan boys falling all over themselves to pre-order a PS4. Precious. And for what? Because the Xbox One might have DRM? Welcome to PC gaming. Because the Xbox One might restrict used games? Again, PC gamers have dealt with that for years.

What about those of us who have preferred the Playstation from the beginning? Perhaps because it had a superior controller that was reminiscent of the Super Nintendo's controller. Or perhaps because the PS3 shipped with a Blu-Ray player. Or perhaps because PS3 games were free to play online, and there was no "red ring of death."

Not really. I wouldn't put this at the top of the heap by any stretch, but the specs certainly blow away what the PS4 or XBox One will have.

Both the Xbox One and PS4 will have Radeon 7850ish graphics. That PC you linked has a Radeon 6450, which is a $40 card that offers terrible gaming performance. That PC is not even worth the $500.

Both consoles will actually be excellent gaming values when they debut. But the PC will re-capture the value crown as time goes on and new hardware is introduced, but the console hardware stays the same.

First Off I was generalizing when I said Walmart aka brick and mortar. Does FRYs make more since. Now a days I would check new egg or Amazon. I have no need to build a computer and hunt down the latest drivers to config the system. I have built 2 386 machines in my early days before plug and play was ever heard of. When people actually built the computer from the ground up. Today kids plug in a new Video card or plug in some memory dimm and tell people they built a computer. Lmao Anybody can build a computer this day an age but why would I want to when I could have some slave laborer from China to do it. The last computer I bought was from tiger direct configured online and shipped to my door. Microsoft wont waste its time in Asia because the Asian people prefer buying machines built by Asians. The Xbox is built in China but I guess its still to American for there tastes. PC gaming is for lonely nerds who live with there parents because their to big of losers to find a life and a job. I could run my computer threw HDMI from my Vid card to my home theater but why deal with the headache of wondering if the game is going to crash. Then spend more time trying to tweak the game settings so it will run consistently. Whatever..Nerds go play WOWC and pull your puds or diddle your muffins to online porn because you cant get a life or a woman or man which ever you prefer.

You obviously dont know anything about PC Gaming. Its ok stick with your over priced consoles and its shitty graphics that keep the Gaming industry from getting better. You fail to realize the capability of a Gaming PC with the MODs and the community content that is provided with many of the games for PCs. Its not just gaming either its freedom from Console Companies that tell you what you can and can't do.

If you support Steam, yet say this, your argument is invalid because of hypocrisy and being shallow minded...

A while back there was a story on this website about being able to copy games that were on a disc. I put a comment in about why we shouldn't be able to do it because people will be sharing them like music CDs get copied. Someone responded that they've had games get scratched up because heavy use by kids is hard on electronics.

If your new PS4 game gets scratched and wrecked, you're out another $60. If your games are free to download with your login at Microsoft you don't have to worry about it. That's going to be a big benefit to some customers. And don't say MS might turn off their activation server. By the time that happens we'll be using the PS7 (probably off the cloud) and Xbox One will be emulated on our phones.

One thing about Steam, games are still playable after a PC upgrade. Steam games are not completely dependent on a dead PC architect, that is no longer being manufactured.

Um yah, you make a few okay points. But first "Dads win Nerds lose"? How immature can you get? Second I am a PC gamer, gave up my consoles for it, and haven't changed or modded my computer in close to 3 years. I can still play current games on the settings I think are good (which is usually maxed).

Anyway learn to not sound so belligerent, uneducated, and immature. Especially if you really are a "dad". If you are, then we now will have more unintelligent social fodder (your kids) for our sociological system.

And for a very minor, last point: the Xbox One is made for people like you. The common sheep who like to combine and condense forms of entertainment ... the casual crowd as it were. Which honestly there's nothing wrong with being a part of, we need everyday sheep like you to keep this economy going. Unfortunately your kind holds a major share (I would guess 75+%) ((which is supported scientifically by psychological sciences of human typology)) of the world population. Which is why we saw Wii have such success. Xbox One will not fail, but it will fail where it matters the most:

With the educated, intelligent, and free-willed—"nerds" as you have called us—a group of people I proudly support. You support your majority with your dollar, I'm happy putting mine with the imaginative, the creative, and the nerds. Because when it comes down to it: we will always own people like you.

You are suggesting that the XB1 OS architecture won't allow the next console to be backwards compatible, which I disagree. They are purposely making it as close to being a PC as possible (they are even including the Windows kernel) but gearing it towards gaming. And I don't think they are going to move away from that again (which would alienate backwards compatibility).
And last I checked, it will still be like most consoles before it even if games won't carry over.

If anything, I was debating the past not the future. I might be stupid but not stupid enough to debate what might be.

Steam has offline capability. Also PCs have more flexibility to remove DRM if Steam ever were to make things unavailable.

Steam can afford offline capabilities only because it's all digital. The XB1 doesn't have that luxury... yet (I will bet it will go all digital eventually, allowing them to remove the strict DRM).
And I'm sure you could hack an XB1 if needed. It might even be easier to emulate on a PC because the architecture would be similar...
