  1. hey guys,
i just got vista and im just installing some software and things onto it. ive been getting the "an unidentified program wants to access your computer" message when ive been installing, and thats fine. but ive just finished installing j.river media center and whenever i try to run this program i get that same message.

is there anyway i can make this program always have permission? can i add it to some sort of allow list or anything?

    any help is much appreciated.

Sorry, I replied to the wrong forum post before.

UAC can be turned off, but that is kinda like defeating some of the security vista offers.
I don't think there's an easy way to make it work like a firewall program where you can "always allow" a program(which I'd personally like to see available). Some behaviors of UAC can be customized though.
