Police are using Pokemon Go to lure fugitives out of hiding

  1. As Pokémon Go mania is sweeping the globe, police in one New Hampshire city are hoping to leverage its popularity as part of a sting operation.

The Manchester, New Hampshire police department recently posted a message on its Facebook page stating that a rare Pokémon character known as a Charizard was located in its booking area. Because the Charizard is such a rare character, however, the police department was only inviting a specific number of people to capture it.

Those lucky people, of course, are all criminals on the department’s wanted list.

It’s unclear if the sting has resulted in the arrest of any wanted criminals. We all know that most criminals aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed but surely, nobody is dumb enough to fall for this, right?

The department’s post has received nearly 25,000 likes thus far and more than 4,000 comments, most of which are praising the department for such a clever operation. That’s good news for police in general as relations with the public are currently tumultuous to say the least.

Sting operations like this are standard procedure for departments around the country. As it turns out, offering criminals a reward – like a rare Pokémon character – or some other prize is quite effective at luring criminals out of hiding.

"That’s good news for police in general as relations with the public are currently tumultuous to say the least." Thats a stretch for the absolute majority of police precincts. Its the police precincts that have to deal with high levels of minorities that hate law that have tumultuous relationship with the public and even then there are plenty of police departments that maintain good relationships with their minorities. This sentence is the biggest load of garbage, I've ever heard. The vast majority of people are happy with their police. So why wouldn't this get liked by the people? Seriously, keep the BLM terrorist agenda out of completely irrelevant news. Seriously, cops are the only people willing to go into minority communities and protect the part of the minority community that wants to live peacefully and lawfully from the part of the minority community that wants to be violent and lawless.

I heard you can get Missingno just outside the space station and NASA is willing to let anyone get it, but they have no extra spacesuits, so you have to go outside the space station naked...

It worked on 19 criminals in the UK using beer, so why not?

It is a joke. The Manchester NH police twitter is basically nothing but jokes. Its the official twitter alright, but they have a sense of humor most days. This is an example of that. Not sure why TS is reporting on it as if it was a serious operation.
