Poor video playback quality

I have just changed a video card on a computer to a Radeon 9550, better than the original Nvidia MX4000 anyway. Everything appears to be working OK, games now playing OK but when video is played back in Media player 9 the quality is very poor. The colours are terrible and it looks very grainy.
Has anyone any suggestions what the problem could be?

Make sure you have the latest version of Direct X HERE

    The correct video driver HERE

Get latest version of Media Player 9 HERE or try and upgrade to XP.

    All the codecs HERE

Still problems run DX diag HERE

The machine is running Windows Xp SP2 with all updates installed, drivers are also up to date. Will try Dxdiag though, see what that throws up.
    Thanks for suggestions.:grinthumb
