  1. A power cut occured during installation of the automatic windows updates, and now i have the error message DRIVER_IRQL_NOT LESS OR EQUAL and the dreaded blue screen! I cannot start in safe mode with command prompt. Does anyone have any suggestions? A scan of drives returned a code 7. Thanks for any help!

Put the drive in another computer, set to slave, and run a defragmentation.
Then using that computer download all your drivers and burn to a flash drive or burn them to a disk.
Then try to boot in your original case.
If it won't boot, try to boot in <SAFE MODE> which will usually work. Look at the Device manager for any red, yellow, or black flags... I suspect that you have one, and probably, on ly one driver that was damaged during the power outage.

Then use the driver set you just saved to reload the drivrs.

If this doesn't work, you are likely better off reinstalling the drive from scratch.
