Problem viewing webcam images

I can't see webcam images. I have the latest version of Java and I have followed their recommendations to solve the problem (enabled java through web browser and enabled through the Java Plug-in control panel) However all I get is a black screen when I view a website with webcams.

Any help greatly appreciated.

What version of Windows are you running? Do you have Adobe Flash Player installed?

Hi Tmagic650.

I'm running XP and have flashplayer installed.

The only problem that I can see is:

Following the troubleshooting from Java

Control Panel
Java applet
Advanced
Default Java for browsers

There are 2 options - Microsoft internet explorer and Mozilla family.
There are no boxes to tick until I click on the Microsoft Internet Explorer line. Then the boxes appear. There is already a tick in the box which quickly becomes unticked. If I click on again the tick stays.

Is this usual?
