have your checked your system for viri and spyware?
    have you installed anything recently?
Is your PC PSU strong enough for your system?

    memory or psu

does your computer shutdown after prolonged use
if it does it can be a memory porblem
run memtest and check for memorry errors
like tedster mentioned, you power supply maybe in its way to the recycling center or have you added any new hardware?

download and runmemtest 86+ booted from a real floppy or a cd rom
run for 7 or more passes. any errors are bad.
