My computer cannot pass through BIOS and after around 3 sec being turned on, the computer automatically shutdown. I just bought motherboard ECS G31T-M7 ,1 stick of corsair ram 2gb 2048-6400C4 and p4 2.66ghz (my old cpu). Based on that spec, i wonder if Hyper-thread motherboard really need core2duo/pentium d/dual core as its main core since these processor using hyperthreading technology.. and 1 more question. except processor, the ram im using is compatible or not? My computer cannot run through BIOS, and auto shutdown. i don't know what exactly the main issue about my hardware, since all are new except the processor.

It may just be a bad motherboard... I have a BAD history with ECS products.

Core 2 Duo and Pentium D Processors do not use Hyper Threading.

The RAM should be compatible. I see no reason for it not to.

So the ram is ok. what model of cpu will fit with this motherboard? any suggestion? did my old processor (p4 2.66ghz 533mhz) should actually be able to run on this motherboard? or should i change to core 2 duo / Dual core as these proc listed as compatible with the mb?
