Problem with Messenger Live, (pics06.zip)

Hi.

I carelessly accepted a malicious file. I was actually waiting for a friend of mine to send me a file by Messenger when the virus struck, and didn't realize it until it was too late, although there was a strange message included: "Hey very sexyyyy! " The file sended was named pics06.

First my msn started to send the package and the same "Hey..." note for random people in my msn. I tried to scan my computer with various programs, like Symantec, Ad-Aware, Spybot, avast! and ewido. I also used "search files and folders" for pics06, and found something and deleted it. I did the same with "Start -> Run: regedit" and searched the registers for pics06.

Then I found this site, and here's the hijackthis.log attached. I followed some intruction to remove files called dvdplayer and NTSpool. Don't know if I did it correctly or if the problem still exists. Can you help?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

You`re running three antivirus programmes and this is most definitely not recommended.

Uninstall two AV programmes immediately.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as Attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the Panda Antirootkit scan.

I would like to try to clean up my system. I removed two antivirus programmes as you suggested. I only spared Symantec Antivirus.

After a couple of hours trying, I belive I managed to get through the preliminary clean up process.

The Panda Antirootkin scan didn't find anything.

Here are the requested logs attached. Some of them appears to contain some finnish, probably because my Windows is a FIN-version. I hope you get all the necessary information anyway.

I'm not sure if the virus or whatever it was still bugs me. My messenger haven't acted strangely recently, but who knows if it's just "sleeping"? It's possible, that all the cleaning I tried before actually worked. So can you see from these logs if my system is clean or not? I certainly can't.

Delete all files in AVG Antispyware quarantine.

Your log files are clean.

Delete the following folders.

C:\qoobox
C:\vundofix backups

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

Now, turn system restore back on. This will have deleted all your old restore points and any nasties that are in them. It will also have created a new, clean restore point.
