Problem with my DI-624_revC Router

I am trying to connect to Xbox Live with my 360 and I'm having some problems. I can send messages to friends, recieve them, download demos and videos but I can't have a live chat with someone and when I search for games nothing comes up. I updated the firmware to a compatible version but that didn't work. I do the Xbox Live Connection test and everything passes so I really have no clue what the problem is. My friend said it might be the firewall but I don't know how to turn it off so any help with anything would be appreciated.

is your sbox going through pc or router/modem?
