Problem With WMP11

hello,
I have a problem realating to windows media player 11. My problem is that whenever I click "play" on a track, the track does not play, the track name turns orrange an an orange exclamation mark appears next th the track. I get an error message saying " WMP cannot play the file, the file is either corrupt or the player does not support the format you are trying to play." Before this happened I had over 600 registry problems and I managed to successfuly fix most of them using regedit, before registry problems WMP as far as I know was working fine. (Just and Idea)

Anyway has enyone experienced this problem before or know how to fix it?

what kind of file are you trying to play

Mainly MP3 files which i have downloaded from various sites, and also from purchased cd's. All music is opened with windows media player 11 whih will convert them to wma, it seems like the format in which WMP reads misic is set correctly, possibly..... but i really dont know!
