Problems with a nvidia riva p4 graphics card

I have recently built a cheap machine for my son to play BF1942 on. IT has a problem with the graphics card and say that windows will have to shut down to stop any damage being done. It says its the graphics card drivers but i can't sort it out. Any ideas anyone
