Problems with GeForce 6800 GT

Hello!

I have two really annoying problems with my 6800 GT graphics card.

The first is that every time i boot my PC the graphics card wont start. The screen is black and I have to restart my computer a few times before it starts. I notice it starts because of the pretty loud fan.

The other problem is that in almost all games textures are very shimmering and shades look very bad. And even though I set the detail levels at minimum the game will still run very slowly.

I have the latest directx drivers and the latest Forceware drivers.

Can you tell us a little more about the system you have the 6800 in?
What power supply do you have?
Was this a new upgrade/install from another card?

I have the card in:
775Dual-915GL
Intel Celeron 2.80GHz
1024 MB RAM

Power supply: 300W

It is not an upgrade (it is actually but as i changed card i formatted and reinstalled windows)

I'm thinking it's the Psu, a little under powered.

I did a calculation and ended up around 240W. You still think it's that? Can't it just be broken, or wouldn't it work at all then?

Also, let's say it doesn't get sufficient power, would it still work then but not as good, or wouldn't it work at all?
