Problems with Half-Life 2 and other HL2 games

I don't know exactly if my video card is broken or not, but I can't play Half-Life 2 and other games related to it. I can log into my Steam account with no problems, but then when I try to play HL2, it won't let me. It just says, "Preparing to launch Half-Life 2..." and doesn't go any farther. Help me please :dead:

I suspect you will get more/better help at www.steampowered.com forums, and perhaps include in your post your system specifications (like which vid card, CPU, RAM, OS, etc), as your post was a bit sparse in the information provided. Good luck !
