Professional Overwatch player kicked from team, quits eSports after racist rant during...

He said "the wrong person", not "any black person". Are you suggesting there aren't black people with "such little regard for life that they will kill you for dropping n-bombs"? There are white people who'd kill you for less (that applied to them) too.

Can't tell if troll or just bad at reading.

I was actually pleased to see someone who screwed up royally and took responsibility for his own actions instead of making 100 excuses or blaming society for his behavior.

Neither. I used exact quotes to make my point, what is your point?
You implied that the poster you quoted was saying any black person would kill the guy for using the N-word. He didn't. He said there were some who would kill him for it. He was correct. There are people with zero respect for life in every race. Believing otherwise is *****ic.

"Maybe he should have got a real job from the outset."
Pro esport players have a real job. You are not a 90yo grandpa so you should perfectly know just how big the industry is. (although in this case we are talking about a small team and he was a sub)
You're right, I'm not 90, yet, but I am a grandpa of four grand kids. There's absolutely nothing wrong making a living playing games if that's what you're good at, but to label it as a sport is absolutely ludicrous in my opinion, it's entertainment but I digress.

you clearly are stuck in the past with that games are for kids mentality.
esports is so big that it makes many sports look like they are playing for chump change. big teams have the same level of organisation as football teams (trainers, coaches, facilities, etc) and world final numbers rival or dwarf other sports.

I play video games... I've played them since they were invented, almost.
Just because I'm a grandpa and my kids are well into their 30's doesn't mean to say I haven't moved with the times.

playing them and how you think of them are 2 entirely different things.
have you ever been to a big esports event to see just how "ludicrous" it is?

Extremely offensive? That meltdown was hilarious.

That having been said...this is hardly racist. Literally everyone on COD drops n-bombs, c-bombs, f-bombs, and every other "offensive" term imaginable when someone pisses them off. I've heard 12 year olds do worse than this for the lulz.

Fake news.

I do see why he's a career gamer, though. Normal folk tend to demand a level of social intelligence slightly above Asperger's.
I'm not black but an n-bomb would be considered offensive. C-bomb and f-bomb no problem, nothing racist about that.

He needs to learn to control that anger, its easy to cuss at people across an internet connection, but if he does't get it under control, he's going to n-bomb the wrong person and get shot.

He's already blown his career as a gamer, now you gotta get a real job and should probably learn to have respect for other people, even if you're having a bad day.

So every rap song ever where there is an N-bomb every 14 seconds is offensive?
Hmm thats odd because those guys drive Ferraris made from solid gold and then have them plated with platinum for the lulz and get fancy awards all the time.

Dumb double standards.
(not saying the guy is a saint but everyone is always offended by everything nowdays and cry in a corner and call the cops, nanny state ftw)

a "real" job?
Like pro hockey player?
or maybe pro golfer?
or pro any sport?

Real job my ***, e-sports is a thing just like regular sports and this old way of thinking that its just some kids playing veeedio games from the 70's is wrong.
In any compensative scenario in any sport this stuff happens all the time, why would it be different in e-sports?

Why not? Football and baseball are entertainment. Gaming takes practice just like conventional sports. Its just not as physical, isn't billiards a sport?

while its nice to see his acknowledgement. I can't blame him too hard, I mean, you CAN say "nigga" on tv all day but you can't say "fag" at all. (I don't say "n-word"). Its only free speech until someone gets upset.

re: classification

The difference is that billiards actually involves acting upon physical objects. If e-sports are true sports, so is typing, making most of us athletes by virtue of lengthy forum posts.

But it's not a true sport, which is why they add the 'e.'

Does it not require hand-eye coordination and reflexes like any other sport? Joysticks are acted upon physically, sometimes with amazing precision.
Did you know chess is a sport? Can't tell me chess is a sport cause of physically moving the pieces either lol.

We all get pissed when we are losing a match, but bad choice of words. What an immature loser, 28 years old and acting like his 11.

Different strokes mate. I can't even stand to watch anyone else play video games if I'm not involved. It's just so boring but don't get me wrong, I can fully understand others finding it exciting.

LMAO his enemy was using Infra-Sight (Widowmaker's ultimate that lets all your team see enemies through walls for a while). This guy snapping doesn't make sense, he was just standing there while the other guy had his ult active and could see everyone, it was his fault he got picked really.

The world has gone overboard with all these slurs now, Sure, some find them offensive and it's understandable but no matter how offensive they find them and no matter how hard the powers that be try to eradicate it, they're fighting a losing battle, they'll never win, it'll never go away. Bias is in human nature. Personally it doesn't bother me if I get slurred, and I'm not the type of person who always turns the other cheek but I take it from whence it came. Sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me.
I do agree with the authorities punishment in this case, that player can think of all the derogatory comments, and then some, all he can, it's his prerogative, but he just cannot say it publicly and not expect repercussions.

Chess is a legit sport for the same reason billiards is a legit sport. It's a cognitive sport that has real-world application and significance, just like traditional athletic sports.

e-sports aren't true sports for the simple reason that they do not occur in the real world. A champion chess player's skills translate to the real world. A champion footballer (American or soccer) translates to the real world (combat fitness, manual labor, overall health). Being able to twirl a couple of joysticks around translates to squat all.

Take the chess board away from a chess player and you still have someone who can profitably employ their skill. Take the ball away from a footballer and you still have someone who can profitably employ their skill. Take the controller away from an e-sports player and you have...well, you've got a cart without a horse, now don't you?

Read up on the history of sports dating back to their origins. It will clarify the divide between traditionalists and the new crop of pseudo-athletes.

Multiple standardized tests say my reading comprehension in English is 100%. More likely a failure on your part to correctly copy your thoughts down into words. Also a failure on your part to even attempt to counter what I said, so I'm guessing you meant exactly what you wrote and just had no way to retort my post so you posted this nonsense rather than attempting to defend your ignorant post.

Those were quite clearly wrong or too simplistic if you can't identify rudimentary rhetoric.

I'll give you a hint. I started the post off with "checkmate."

When you can't admit you were wrong, pretend the other person is stupid and hope others believe you . . . Does this strategy work for you often? Do you have a similar move for when you lose at chess? I'm done, see you around!

Later, bro.
