Recently some of my programs have been slow in opening. Same thing with some folders, they will take a bit longer to open. It all started when I let a neighbor kid come and use my computer, he has one but no internet access. He wanted to do research for school project. When he came he brought disks with him. There was nothing wrong with the disks, they were new and blank. He came three or four times.
The last night he was here I went into the IE history looking for a site I visited the night before and what I found was porn sites listed, lots of them.

Another problem that started when this all started is with Norton. It is scheduled to run every two days at midnight. When I come to my computer I see that Norton opened up, but no scan was done. Last night I happened to be up at about midnight. Norton poped up and thats it, it did nothing.

I would appreciate it if some one took a look at the Hijackthis log....

If you are no longer using your modem (you have broadband I assume) look at this for ptsnoop.exe and pctptt.exe
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/Win98/Q_20837156.html
Pctptt.exe is legitimate.
Ptsnoop.exe is probably legit but could also be a virus, albeit a harmless one.
Compare file-size and file-date with your original modem-install-CD or floppy,
and then decide to have HJT 'fix' them or not.

OPTIONAL 'fix'
C:\WINDOWS\ptsnoop.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CountrySelection] pctptt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PTSNOOP] ptsnoop.exe

DEFINITE 'fix'
Boot in Safe Mode and let HJT 'fix':
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
O16 - DPF: {EF791A6B-FC12-4C68-99EF-FB9E207A39E6} (McFreeScan Class) - http://download.mcafee.com/molbin/iss-loc/vso/en-us/tools/mcfscan/2,0,0,4426/mcfscan.cab

I would suggest you tell your neighbour's kid to look somewhere else for his web-adventures.
In IE, click on Tools/Internet Options. Then empty the cache, delete cookies, delete history.
Next, stop using IE except for Windows Updates.
Instead, go to www.getfirefox.com and use that from now on.

Thanks a lot, I downloaded firefox last night just havnt installed it yet.
And your right I no longer need the modem, I had forgotten it was still there.

Thank you again, I'll take care of all this tonight when I get home.
